Still the One... LIVE!, Orleans' 30th Anniversary Retrospective CD is a collection of live recordings culled from the best of the band's personal archives --- from the early days right up to the present. John, Larry and Lance oversaw the production of this package throughout the entire process. Along with the 17 songs, there's a 12-page booklet which includes photos as well as comments from the band on each of the tracks. CD - $15 (plus S&H)

The UnHerd 'Looking for the Light' ($15)
World class first 'solo' release by "the voice" of legendary 70's group ORLEANS (Still The One, Dance With Me, Love Takes Time etc.). If you like those sounds you'll LOVE this. A totally killin' band: Bassist Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, James Taylor); co-producer and Keyboardist David Sancious (Sting, Springsteen) and many other notables like Billy Squier and the Doobie Brothers', Steely Dan's sax man Cornelius Bumpus. The mostly original tunes all have strong melodies with lyrics of substance (and suitable for all ages). The vocals are stunning, and production is big without losing the energy of the live tracks and group vocal sessions. This CD is the flagship for the artist's own charity Sunshine For HIV Kids and all monies go to support that nonprofit. Recorded here in Woodstock, NY where all these people live, it sounds like they had a great time doing this one! A real treasure for those lucky enough to have found it. Bonus: Included is A GREAT cover of Lennon-McCartney's "No Reply"!

  'Handmade' ($15)
Larry Hoppen has assembled a collection of soulful original music going back to 1979 for his latest CD, Hand Made. The tracks include live cuts, demo tracks, and full-blown production masterpieces like the adult contemporary duet, "Keep On Shining", with female vocalist Terry Pinkham, that sounds ready for Disney to snatch as a power ballad behind another animated masterpiece. Hoppen's voice is perfectly smooth and soulful, and his lyrics are personally revealing. His songs touch a chord in anyone who has juggled a musical life and love with the rest of traditional family life. Particular highlights include "Closer to You", a beautiful tune that chronicles a husband's need to be closer to his wife and understood; "My World Stopped Turning" is a soulful bit of earcandy within a heart breaking recap of a hard break-up; and "A Season to Remember" starts as a bare piece with piano and vocal that allows Hoppen's unique and trained voice to shine as he reflects on special years gone by. Hoppen reminds me of David Pomeranz in the way he phrases his lines and writing - touching listeners with ease. This 25 year veteran of Orleans (Still the One) keeps getting better.
